“You could say so.” Simon absentmindedly took a sip of his red wine.

Ariana blurted out, “Do you have a girlfriend, Dr. Finch?”

Her question nearly made him choke. “Ms. Torrey, why do you ask?”

“Well, I think you’re a perfect candidate. Not only are you Handsome, you’re young and successful. To top it off, you’re a doctor. If I ever need to see the doctor when I age, all I need is you. You look like husband material too…

“I need to stop you there.” Simon had tried to play matchmaker for Victor. Never in his wildest imagination had he imagined getting himself involved.

He worried that Ariana might ask deeper questions about his family if he continued the conversation. He quickly brushed it off. “Ms. Torrey, it was just a casual remark. I have no plans to get a girlfriend for now.”

“Oh.” She put on a disappointed look. “What a shame–I feel the same! You should come to me again when you’re ready to date.”

Simon coughed softly to hide his awkwardness. Ariana was really something. After she bombarded hirm with those questions, he dared not probe about her relationship status in case she developed an interest in him.

No one in their social circle would dare set their eyes on a woman of Ariana’s status.

“Are you done eating?” Victor’s cold voice pierced through the air.
