When

hen we both came down from our highs, we realized what had happened. I couldn't look away from Matteo and he didn't push me away. I heard him clearly and he wasn't denying it or anything, so I wasn't wrong. As he took a few steps back, I was left sitting on the island and grabbing my shirt to cover my body. Suddenly, it was an awkward turn, but I knew we couldn't run away and hide anymore. This was bound to happen. One of us was going to fall first and I didn't expect it to be him to let it slip. I was attracted to him ever since we kissed but I never thought I was able to develop feelings for someone like him. I kept trying to push my feelings away because I didn't want to get hurt again. Besides, he did tell me there wasn't ever going to be love involved.

So, I wasn't going to test the waters. I sticked to the original plan.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I asked, shifting in my spot.

He shook his head, "I'm willing to take the risk. I'd rather go all the way with you to show you how much I love you and have a future with you than hide in the shadows, afraid of pursuing. If we end up hurting each other, at least we had a taste of happiness together." "You're not fooling around, aren't you?" I stood, walking away.

I just needed to step away for a little while, getting a few airs to clear my mind. Every word was genuine, and I felt it straight to my bones which terrified me.
