“Ava, no matter what, I still want to apologize. My mom is usually very kind, but I don’t know what happened to her today.” She smiled and said, “Well, she’s your mom, of course she’s kind to you!” Seeing that Ava was going to leave, Selden suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist. “Wait, I still have something to tell you.” “Selden, …” Right at this moment, an unpleasant shout suddenly came from behind, “Hey! “Damien Radbury, why are you here?”

Why are you always so disobedient?” His tone was gentle, and it seemed that he wasn’t angry. However, Ava had a bad feeling about this as she felt a chill down her back. “Selden is being discharged from the hospital today. I just wanted to…” Her voice instantly sounded less confident.

“Well, did you bring him the present that I asked you to give him?” “Huh?” Seeing that Damien sounded so serious, Ava was suddenly stunned. Since when did he prepare a present? She bought the gift with her own money! This just made it seemed as if Selden owed Damien a favor by accepting that gift. As expected, Selden said, “Ah…so it was you who bought that thing.” “Yeah, Ava is a girl. How could she know what to pick as a gift for a male friend? I don’t know if you will like the electronic gadget I got you though.” “Well then, thank you very much,” Selden said with a stiff smile.
On the way home, Damien drove all the way without saying a single word to Ava. She secretly observed his expression several times, only to find that he put on a poker face the whole time. She couldn’t figure out if he was upset or not. However, he was most probably angry… “Are you mad at me, Damien?” She summoned up her courage to ask him. He didn’t respond and only focused on driving the car. “If you’re angry, so be it, but don’t give me that look. How did you even know what I have bought for Selden? Did you secretly rummage through my stuff?” He remained silent, which made Ava feel dejected.
She finally couldn’t stand it anymore and shouted, “Why did you come all the way to pick me up if you want to ignore me? I want to get out of the car now!” The car stopped on the side of the road immediately. She wanted to open the car door, but it was locked. Damien turned his head around to look at her, and his eyes were obviously filled with anger. She felt extremely wronged. She was bullied by Selden’s mother in the hospital just now, and now she had to put up with him. In fact, she just wanted to politely congratulate Selden for finally getting discharged. Did she really do something wrong? “Damien Radbury, if you think I’ve done something wrong, just say it. You don’t have to be so cold to me.” After a moment of hesitation, he finally spoke, “I’m not happy that you came to see him.” “Then I promise you that I will not meet him again without your permission in the future. Okay?” “Not only him, everyone else too.” She could only nod and promise him. She couldn’t help herself but mumble under her breath, “What a petty guy.” “I have always been petty, anyway.” He pinched her chin with one hand and wanted to teach her a lesson, but he couldn’t bear to do it. In the end, he gently hit her head with his finger. “You’ve never bought me a gift before,” he said.
“Pardon?”
Damien turned his head and started the car again, “Oh nothing.” The more he thought about it, the more displeased he became. She never bought him anything, yet she had given Selden countless gifts. She even knew he likes electronic gadgets and bought him one as a gift. She probably didn’t know what Damien liked at all!
The next day, at the Radbury’s Group. When Damien entered his office after the meeting, he found a project document on the table.
