Silas lifted his head as Ivy entered. His chest squeezed when he saw the shock on her face.

He stood up slowly from the bed, training his voice not to sound so pathetic. "I had to see you."

Her shock changed into anger and she dropped her bag on the table. "You have to leave, Silas."

Silas stepped forward, not close enough to touch her, but close enough if he wanted to. And he did want to touch her, but he knew she would reject him, and he couldn't take her rejection any longer.

Ivy looked at him. Her green eyes softened and that melted something inside him. He stepped closer and when she didn't flinch, he grabbed her by her waist and pulled her to him.
