Chapter 130 A Switch In Tone.

Chapter 130: A Switch In Tone.

"Are you there, ma'am?"

Detective Spence's voice cut through Ivy's thoughts, causing her to jolt. "Yes, yes, detective. Sorry," she said softly. "I... will call him right now."

"Alright, ma'am," Detective Spence said calmly.

"Thank you for your help."

"Okay, ma'am. Take care."

"Bye," she said and ended the call.

Ivy sighed, tapping her temple to calm herself, but despite this, she couldn't help the anger that tightened up her chest.

What was wrong with her father?

He always made everything about himself, and now he had convinced Geoffrey to give up on the search, especially since it had finally yielded results.

She dialed Geoffrey's number and waited for it to ring. She had to convince him again, she understood how conflicted he might be feeling with Patrick forcing his own opinion on him.

But Geo didn't pick up, so she tried again and again. After the fourth ring, which was still unanswered, Ivy felt a knot form in her stomach. She clenched a fist, annoyed that Patrick had scared Geo.

"Screw it!" she scoffed and dialed her father's number.

Almost immediately, Patrick picked up. "Yes." His answer was flat.

"Why don't you let Geo see his family?" she demanded, keeping her voice low.

"And why the hell are you calling?" he hissed, his tone tingling with malice. "I already disowned you. Don't drag Geo down with you in your miserable lonely life. He knows what he wants!"

She scoffed, not even offended by his tone because she had expected it. "I was telling Geo how to do what was right." He chuckled dryly, and she could imagine the frown on his face. "Since when do you know what's right and wrong? The person that made the same awful mistake twice?"

Ivy hissed, refusing to let his jab sting. "This has nothing to do with me. We're talking about Geo and his family."

"I am his family!" Patrick snapped. "And he's okay with me and Cole."

Ivy's mouth twisted into a frown. "Yes, but he does have a real family and he needs to know them, the same way they need to know him. Stop being selfish, it's not about you!"

"The next time you call me or Geo, I will have you arrested!" Patrick snapped, a mixture of anger and threat in his voice." Fuck off!" Then he ended the call.

Ivy groaned, punching the air. "God damn!"

She tightened her lip together, trying to contain her frustration. "It's not over," she muttered, convincing herself.
