Chapter 138: The DNA Test.

Ivy released a dry chuckle as she sprang out of the bed. She shook her head in disbelief.

"I... don't understand you, Detective Spence," she said, hearing the panic in her voice.

Of everything that had happened all day, this took the cake.

"Oh," Detective Spence sighed. "You didn't know, I'm sorry to have dumped that on you, ma'am."

"I... think there's a mistake here, detective. You're probably seeing the results of the adoption process. It can't be, Ivy said.

It wasn't that she didn't want Geo as a brother, he was already a brother to her.

The unacceptable part that baffled her the most was how her father had been able to keep the secret for ten years!

They all knew Geo and Patrick looked alike, but everyone thought it was because Geo had been around Patrick for years.

Now hearing Detective Spence say this, she couldn't believe it.

"My results are a hundred percent correct, but if you are still having doubts, which is normal, I could run a DNA test with yours and Geo's sample," Detective Spence said, sounding very certain. "I already have Geoffrey's, I can get yours and then have the result by morning."

Ivy bit her lips, confusion racing through her. She badly wanted to find the truth, yet she wasn't sure she'd be ready for it.

"Just to be sure," Detective Spence said, encouraging her.

"Okay. Fine," she said, giving in to his suggestion.

"Alright ma'am. I will be at your house at fifteen," Detective Spence said and hung up.

Ivy ran a hand through her hair, her body shaking with fatigue. The day was just... great.

She crossed to the bed and sank into it. Her head was spinning with questions.

Was that correct?

Did her father know?

Was that why he didn't want Geo finding out?

She was curious and shocked.

She stood up from the bed and forced herself to the bathroom. She quickly took a shower, changed into a more comfortable gown and sat on the bed waiting for Detective Spence's call.

After five minutes, out of boredom and exhaustion, she made her way downstairs to grab something to eat.

When she got to the foot of the stairs, she saw Silas coming and her stomach twisted as his words flooded her mind.

Silas didn't even look at her, he just went about his business. The action hurt but she knew she couldn't blame him. He was in love with her, and she was still fighting her feelings, even though her body says otherwise every time he touched her.

Ivy bit her lip as her cheeks burned with emotion, but she shook them off again, determined not to think about anything.

She made her way to the kitchen and met Bethany and Monica laughing and sharing a drink.

"Ivy!" Monica said cheerfully. "Oh, come come."
