Callie was such a good kid. How could her own family distrust her so much, even going as far as to question her abilities? Honestly, it was a mystery how people like them managed to raise someone as talented as Callie.

"If you don't want the surgery done here, then feel free to pack up your half- treated son and walk out that door!" barked the hospital director, his face red with frustration.

"Callie, having to deal with a family like yours... now that's a stroke of rotten luck if I've ever seen one."

He shot Monty and the others a withering look, clearly fed up with their nonsense.

Valerian jumped in, trying to smooth things over. "Director, my mom didn't mean any disrespect. She's just worried about Horatio, that's all.

Please, don't take it personally. We're grateful you let us use the operating room. Horatio's recovery is in your hands, and we really appreciate everything you're doing."

The director rolled his eyes.
