Chapter 806

"Cut ties with Lisette?" Zelda gasped, her voice barely above a whisper. "Do you think they'll come after her again?"

"They just might," Monty replied, brow furrowed. "That woman doesn't exactly play fair."

Zelda looked at him, incredulous. "We can't just abandon Lisette like that! She's our daughter, Monty. Our favorite, even!"

She shot him several pleading glances, hoping he wouldn't give up on Lisette so easily.

Monty hesitated, deep in thought. He glanced over to where Calliope was chatting. "Let's deal with Callie first... Didn't you notice? She seems to know everyone here, and she's really close with that Lynn heiress."

Monty was feeling overwhelmed. He found himself regretting all those years he'd favored Lisette—maybe he should've been more fair to Calliope.

Now, Calliope clearly held a grudge against them.

Trying to get her to come home wouldn't be easy. She might not even want anything to do with them anymore.

The thing was, Calliope was brilliant-crucial, even. If she stayed at the Jewell family's company, the business would probably take off. She had so many friends -people with influence and connections, the kind you couldn't buy.
