Chapter 33:

Belinda’s remark subtly transformed Kristopher into what seemed like a commodity available for rent.

The mood at the main table quickly became tense.

Kristopher narrowed his eyes, glaring intensely at Belinda as if his gaze could ignite. “Rent? So you see me merely as an item to be lent out at convenience?”

Cathy snickered silently, her face a mask of confusion. “Belinda, what exactly are you implying? Kristopher is no mere object…”

Belinda’s smirk was faint but unmistakable. “If that’s the case, then what exactly is the nature of your relationship?”

She lifted her glass, delicately sipping the orange juice Anthony had thoughtfully provided. Then, turning towards Kristopher with increased volume, she demanded, “Mr. Cox, would you care to clarify?”

The discussion at the main table had already captured considerable attention, but Belinda’s loud and clear pronouncement now commanded the focus of everyone remaining in the room.
