Chapter 242:

Kristopher’s brow furrowed as he eyed the bold, red gown. It was a sharp contrast to the store’s array of soft pastel shades. The dress was too vivid, too daring. Oddly, it brought back the image of Belinda at the racetrack, her hair billowing behind her as she took off her helmet.

He halted, realizing the woman standing before him was not the gentle, soft-smiling Belinda he remembered, the one who always appeared demure and virtuous both in public and private.

Belinda moved towards the red gown and glanced at the price tag, then turned to look at Kristopher. “Mr. Cox, are you second-guessing because of the price?”

She was quite certain this gown was the priciest in the entire store. Kristopher snapped out of his daze and shook his head. “It just took me by surprise that you’d choose something like this.”

Belinda stopped and gave him a scornful laugh. “Clearly, you don’t know me at all. It’s no wonder you can’t predict what I’d like.” With that, she beckoned a sales assistant, who promptly removed the gown from the mannequin. Belinda took it and disappeared into the fitting room.
