Suppressing her irritation, Cathy drew in a deep breath, veiled the contempt in her gaze, and smoothly steered the conversation elsewhere with a gracious smile. “Divination is really just a bunch of superstitions. My mom might have consulted a fortune teller, but she never took it to heart or followed any advice to dodge fate.” Her smile was gentle, her manner poised.

“I believe she only brought it up because your mention of Kristopher and me being a perfect match reminded her of the fortune teller’s words. It was just a striking coincidence to her.”

Cathy then turned to Belinda with a hint of challenge in her tone. “Miss Nelson, if I recall correctly, Avery just mentioned that you had something you wanted to discuss with me, right?”
