Hearing his words, Elara couldn't help but laugh. 'Is he really that nervous?' she thought.

"I'm not talking about you," Elara said aloud. "Once two people get married, they should care for each other's family, shouldn't they? But... Mrs. Kerwin has a serious character issue. "There's already staff at the hospital to help, yet she insists on giving Natalie a hard time. She makes Natalie do things that could easily be handled by the housekeepers. "Curtis just dumps his own mother on Natalie and expects her to look after her daily. He can actually do that? I think he just doesn't care about Natalie at all."

If Curtis truly cared, he wouldn't put her through this. Lysander glanced at her. "What does Natalie think about all this?"

"She's already thinking about divorce," Elara said. "Honestly, it might be better for her to go through with it."

But as she spoke, a frown appeared on her face. "Though it might not be as easy as she thinks."

Lysander looked at her with interest. "What makes you say that?"

"If it were really that easy to walk away, then..." She stopped mid-sentence, mentally finishing the thought, "Things wouldn't have turned out like that before I time traveled! After finishing drying Lysander's hair, Elara didn't go to bed. She'd already completed today's writing last night. The subsidiary in Brookfield was pretty much under control.

Elara had left one of the people her father assigned to oversee things there, and she only brought Rachel back with her. Her first priority after returning was to complete her graduation requirements.

Elara had already passed the bar exam. After graduation, she would begin a year-long internship at a law firm. Unable to resist, she picked up a book to study for a bit.

Usually, whenever Lysander came home, Elara would stick to him affectionately. Seeing her so absorbed in her reading now, Lysander didn't want to disturb her. Instead, he left the room and went to his study next door to take care of some work.

When Lysander returned and found Elara still at it, he asked, "Aren't you going to bed?"

"I need to hit the books," Elara replied. "I've been slacking off for a few days. Once I have my attorney's license, I can help Natalie with her divorce."

Lysander gazed at her and said, "Get some rest." Then, he scooped her up in his arms, adding, "You can study tomorrow."

Caught off guard, Elara instinctively wrapped her arms around him. Looking up at him, she remembered how long he'd waited for her. Putting aside her thoughts of studying, she smiled and asked, "Missed me, did you?" Lysander's mouth twitched. "Why didn't you let me know before you just up and left?" Even though it had been a while, Lysander hadn't forgotten it.

They'd barely spent any time together, and now Lysander finally had the chance to talk this over properly with her, In truth, Elara had started to miss Lysander too. She hadn't anticipated that her trip would stretch into two or three months. Of course, Lysander hadn't been idle during this time either. Hed worried at first that his own workload would keep him too busy to spend time with her, but it turned out Elara was even busier than he was.

The room was dimly lit, casting a soft glow. As she lay in Lysander's arms, Elara remembered some things Grace had
