Not long after, the rest of the family arrived. His uncle and Aubrey joined them. Although it wasn't a large gathering, it was rare for the family to come together like this. Lysander and his father didn't show up. They were undoubtedly the two busiest people in the family. Adair also made an

appearance.

As soon as she walked in and saw Zavala, she greeted her. "Hi, Aunt Zavala."

Zavala smiled and gestured for her to sit down. "Take a seat. Why didn't you bring your boyfriend along?"

Adair grinned mischievously. "I wanted to, but I was worried he might scare everyone off. Next time, I'll pick a good day and have him treat everyone to a meal."

A few days ago, Asher had been cold and distant with her, which Adair assumed was because of his stepfather. But now, his attitude had shifted drastically, and he finally agreed to be with her. Adair was in high spirits. Zavala chuckled. "Which broke boy has you so smitten?"

At this, Adair glanced at Elara and replied to Zavala, "What do you mean? He's pretty accomplished, actually. And he's not some broke guy! I never said that. Zavala, where did you hear that?"

Not wanting to pry further before things were confirmed, Zavala simply said, "Alright, let's eat. Let us know when you're ready."

At one point during the meal, Elara excused herself to the restroom. On her way out, she bumped into Adair."Did Aunt Zavala about me and Asher?" Adair asked, her tone wary.

"Why don't you ask her yourself?" Elara replied calmly.

Noticing how defensive Adair was, Elara felt a little exasperated. She didn't care about this drama, yet she was being dragged into it and even suspected of spreading rumors. Adair frowned. "You better not say anything."

Watching how anxious Adair was, Elara became more certain there was something between her and Asher.
