#44 “Could It Be Possible that She’s… My Ex-wife?”

Alexander had canceled all his appointments for the day, choosing to drown his sorrows in whiskey as he grappled with the whirlwind of emotions that had consumed him.

He couldn’t help but reflect on how things had gone so wrong. Sophia had entered his life like a whirlwind, and he had genuinely grown fond of her-her beauty, intelligence, and stubbornness had all captivated him.

However, in tamid allure, he had failed to see the manipulations that lay beneath the surface.

He thought back to that passionate kiss they had shared, the one that had made him believe there was something more between them. The confusion of her actions-kissing him one moment and betraying him the next-left him feeling hurt and bewildered.

Just as he was lost in his thoughts, his phone rang, displaying Michael’s name on the screen. Initially, Alexander contemplated ignoring the call, but curiosity compelled him to answer.

“What do you want?” he grumbled. Michael replied smugly, “Wow, someone’s in a sour mood. I’m just calling to let you know, Alexander, that I’ve won.”

Alexander couldn’t muster much interest. “What did you win?”

Michael chuckled, clearly enjoying his moment of triumph. “Sophia, my friend. She called me for help in finding her kidnapped friend, Evelyn.”

The mention of Evelyn being kidnapped immediately snapped Alexander to attention. He didn’t know why he cared so much, but he couldn’t help but ask, “Evelyn’s been kidnapped?”

Michael’s response was filled with amusement. “You don’t even know? Apparently, she really doesn’t trust you.
