When Rebecca got back upstairs, she found Jane waiting for her in the break room.

Jane asked casually, “How’d it go? You good?”

Jane raised an eyebrow and asked, “You don’t trust me?”

Rebecca replied, “I trust you. That’s exactly why I think I should deal with it myself.”

Jane was effortlessly cool and always made Rebecca feel at ease. Rebecca believed that no matter who tried to stir up trouble, Jane could sort it out.

But if Jane got involved, those people would start targeting her too—and Rebecca didn’t want to complicate Jane’s world or drag her down into this mess.

Jane said, “Alright then. If anything happens, just come to me.”

Rebecca nodded.

The whole afternoon flew by with Rebecca following the company’s schedule, running through rehearsals for the big event. She, Jane, Ella, and a few others got slotted into a mid–show spot.

Soon, it was six in the evening. The tenth anniversary celebration of PrimePlay Technologies started right on schedule.

The host fired up the crowd, talking passionately about PrimePlay’s rise over the years, before handing the mic to a few of the higher–ups for their speeches.
