Kate almost jumped out of her skin with joy when she heard Elaine was already filing divorce papers. Now that Alistair had barged in, she was ready to let him have it.

"Who's getting divorced? Well, obviously it's—"

"Just a friend of mine," Elaine cut in smoothly. "We were just talking about her situation."

Luckily, Alistair was so self-absorbed he'd never even consider that Elaine might want to leave him. He just nodded.

Sure, Alistair was a serial cheater, but he'd never want to lose his perfect little trophy wife.
