“It was very necessary,” I said, stopping the man, not wanting to hear more of his nonsense. The man’s words got caught in his throat, and I raised an eyebrow at him, waiting for what he was going to argue with. If he believed that what he was saying, then he was going to have a valid explanation to give. But judging by his silence, I knew that he had none.
