(Victoria's POV)

An overwhelming fear enveloped me as I frantically fumbled for my phone with trembling hands. My wolf whimpered beneath my skin as I dialed the emergency line for the Silvercrest Pack Medical Den.

"Emergency services, this is Dr. Harrison Fletcher speaking."

"Doctor, this is Victoria Frost. Emma is dying!" My voice cracked with desperation. "We're at Moonlight Manor. She has a high fever and she's unconscious. Please hurry!"

"We'll dispatch a medical transport immediately. Keep her warm and monitor her breathing."

I hung up and lowered my gaze to the limp girl in my arms. Her face was pale as moonlight, lips tinged blue from the cold.

"Emma, hold on. You mustn't have anything happen to you, do you hear me!" I patted her face gently but urgently.

Though Emma heard my plea, she was too weak to reply. Her consciousness was fading as her wolf retreated deeper within her weakened body.

While waiting for the medical transport, I desperately pounded on the reinforced doors of Moonlight Manor. The sound echoed through the empty courtyard like gunshots.

"Ethan, Emma is dying! Please, come out and take her to the medical den!"

I shouted through the mind-link barrier, but our severed mate bond meant nothing reached him. I clung to the hope that if Alpha King Ethan Stone saw Emma's condition, his heart would soften.

But the manor's soundproof walls blocked my cries. Ethan, deep in his study, heard nothing through the severed mate bond.

The wailing of sirens cut through the night air. When the medical transport arrived, Emma was already in shock.

The onboard healer's face was grave as he fought to keep her alive. "What happened to her?" he demanded while checking her vitals.

"She had a fever. It came on suddenly," I lied, my wolf retreating from the truth.

The journey to the Silvercrest Pack Medical Den was frantic. Emma's breathing grew more labored with each passing minute.

Upon arrival, Emma was rushed into the emergency treatment chamber. I clung to Dr. Harrison Fletcher's white coat as they wheeled her away.

"Doctor, you must save her. She cannot die."
