Chapter 111
How could he be happy? He had completely no right. The fact he had lived a couple of years Baskin in ignorance only fueled his guilt even more. As a child it was all he could think of. It haunted him. One of the days he asked his father it would make him feel better if he died. “You’re your mother’s only child left alive since you killed the other one. You need to stay alive. Being miserable should do.” The man had said gruffly.
He locked everyone out. While his father’s words moulded and broke him a thousand times over. And after that he never let in afterwards. He deserved to en alone. He begun to build bridges and barricades sealing himself shut.
Seeing him that way, sober and quiet seems to appease his Father. The abuse reduced drastically. The house, a mansion was big enough for the two of them to live without having to see each other if the other so pleased.
The days after that, Axel and his father existed as mere strangers sharing space, an uncomfortable silence echoing between them.
The situation worsened when Axel reached the age to shift but discovered an unsettling reality, he lacked a wolf. His father seized this vulnerability, spewing harsh words that cut deep. “You’re worthless, you’re useless, you don’t even have a wolf. Pathetic,” his father’s cruel remarks reverberated through the large house.
That night, his father’s assistant, witnessing the heart-wrenching scene, questioned.
“Where do you want to send him?” he asked, casting a compassionate glance at the teenage Axel, who stood huddled in a corner.
“I don’t care. He’s practically human anyway, Send him somewhere cold, where it snows all year long,” his father’s response was cold and uncaring.
“Get him out of this house by tomorrow,” sealing Axel’s fate.

And that was it, the next thing he was pulled out of his home country, sent far away from everyone and everything he ever knew. He couldn’t cry or so b or feel bad for himself, he deserved it.
Until that doe eyed woman had shown up, making him feel things he should not.
The sickening screech of metal and the abrupt slam of brakes jolted Axel out of his trip down memory lane. He slammed on his own brakes, his head snapping backward, a sharp pain splitting through his skull. He had collided with another car, lost in his thoughts, he felt the force of the impact, like his head; had been split in two. Fortunately, the other driver had reacted swiftly, reducing the seriousness of the crash
Axel sighed, removing his glasses as a burgeoning headache pulsed through him.
He stepped out of the car slowly, feeling the burn at the back of his head intensify. He promptly apologized, acknowledging the fault lay with him. Making a call, he arranged for his team to handle the aftermath. Weary, he sta gg ered back into his car, setting it to drive autonomously. As the vehicle glided homeward, Axel’s mind drifted aimlessly.
The car smoothly slid into the driveway, a notification snapping him back to the present. Exiting the car he sta ggered. Feeling a pain at the back of his head he massaged it.
His phone vibrated, and Axel’s released a groan.
The voice on the other end relayed the unsettling news.
“Sir, about the young lady you asked me to pick up and drive home. She refused the ride and headed home herself.”
He still felt responsible for her, knowing she was in danger he’d made arrangements. Someone was to take her to work and back everyday in his place.
“What?!” He yelled.
Axel’s eyes widened in sudden panic. A surge of worry flooded him – Jasmine was out alone? Walking through the dark streets by herself a deep sense of concern gripped him. Ignoring any semblance of exhaustion, he darted towards the elevator that would take him to the floor they both
