With that, Mirian took her leave, disappearing from the room with the same quiet grace with which she had entered.

Alone once more, Carlyle turned his attention back to me, his gaze searching mine for any signs of discomfort or distress. “How are you feeling?” he asked, his concern evident in his voice.

I offered him a small smile, grateful for his concern. “I’m doing better, thank you,” I replied. honestly. “Mirian helped me with some of the traditions and processes, and I feel more at ease

now.”

Carlyle nodded, his expression softening with relief. “Good to hear,” he said, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his lips. “If there’s anything you need, don’t hesitate to ask. I want you to feel at home with me.”
