43. soulmate
Outside of the pack house, the sound of luggage wheels moving on the grassy lawn, the Alpha’s shoes approached the car with the early morning sunbeam as birds’ tweeting could be heard. Gamma Tyler was following behind the twins while Beta Kaiden had the Alpha’s baggage in his hands. The pack’s second and third in command had been closely listening to all of the conversation and orders. They had wanted to accompany the Alpha since it was dangerous to go alone to meet the Vampire King, but Xavier had refused to take anybody with him.
The vampires that hadn’t cared about sunrise or sunset had accepted the invitation to meet the Sirius Bright Pack’s Alpha in just a few hours. Surprisingly, or maybe more than coincidentally, the Vampire King Alfred had also sent Xavier an invitation for a meeting the same night. The reason for his request remained unknown, but the younger Alpha, who had been working late into the night, had accepted the offer quickly. He then notified his brother, who left his bed early in the morning to arrange everything that would be needed.
Zander was going to stay in the pack, so that the older Alpha would be less stressed, but both the twins wanted to talk about a few things while they were heading to the car.
“Let me know if anything happens,” Xavier commented as he came to a halt in front of his car, ending his chat with his brother. Tyler loaded his luggage into the car.
“I’ll make sure to tend the pack. You just need to take good care of yourself,” Xavier decided to get into his car after a brotherly hug, but he paused to draw in a long and deep breath. How long would the she-wolf remain hidden? He had been waiting for her to come from behind the wall, but she lacked the confidence.
“Iris,” when her brother called her name, the young green-eyed she-wolf was startled. Why was he calling her for? Should she go back to her room and pretend she was sleeping?
The twins exchanged glances before the older Alpha ordered, “Come out here and stop hiding.”
Iris chewed her lower lip in anxiety for a few seconds before obeying his orders and revealing herself. She had conceded defeat when she realized that no trick would fool her brothers, who had already detected her presence behind the wall.
Lowering her head she focused her attention down on the ground, she took baby steps closer to her brothers then stood timidly, which was very unlike her. This little vixen was not a shy girl, but a naughty little chatterbox, yet she was filled with remorse today.
“I am sorry, brother,” he spoke in whispers and sounded as though she was going to weep. The family’s only sister had wished to provide joy to her brothers via the motherly affection that she had unexpectedly received from Luna Maya, but she had no clue that her Mother was using her in order to gain an advantage over the twins so that she could preserve Alpha Luca’s pack.
Instead of her motherly love, the young woman had come home with quarrels and conflicts, which had made her feel horrible. She had avoided her brothers for a whole day and night due to their fury, but she was determined to apologize this morning. But mustering the courage had been a difficult task. Zander’s rage and snarls the previous day had terrified her. His brothers had never scolded her but yesterday had been a different case.
“There’s no need to apologize, Iris. Everyone makes mistakes,” Xavier placed his hands on her shoulders urging her to gaze to meet his eyes.
“Always keep in mind that Zander and I are your only family. The Sirius Bright Pack members are your family. That woman does not want us, so don’t be caught in her trap again. We’re not mad with you, so don’t cry,” he added. When she nodded obediently and hugged Xavier closely, tears streamed down her cheeks. As she was still hesitant to look at either of her brothers, her small hands drew Zander in for a
group hug.
“Don’t cry, monkey,” Zander chuckled and kissed her on the cheek, which relieved his sister. After a while, she drew herself back smiling at her brothers.
“Brother, there’s something important I need to discuss with the both of you, but I’ll wait until you return,” she smirked, raising the twins’ brows. Their sister had a lot of surprises in store for them.
“All right,” they chuckled as Xavier turned to face the car.
“I’m leaving,” the Alpha stated, smiling as he glanced at the window of his bedroom one last time. The light in his room was still turned off. Dean whimpered in sadness.
“Take care,” Zander urged as the driver opened the door to let Xavier get in.
“Xavier!! Wait!!”
‘It’s her!” Dean roared in Xavier’s head as the Alpha turned around to find his little mate running towards him.
“Kiara?” He whispered her name in amazement. Had she not been sleeping? So, what brought her out here? How did she get here? Without his knowledge, his feet began to move closer to his wife.
“Wait for me,” the young she-wolf came to a halt in front of him, gasping for air. She had dashed from the pack house to the car at full speed. Xavier came closer to her, holding her arms to support her fatigued body in front of her, as she had stumbled due to the high heels she had been wearing.,
“What exactly are you doing here?” Xaiver inquired, drawing her closer as he brushed her brown hair from her face.
“… I want to go with you,” the young lady blinked innocently up at him, as if she was scared to speak. She was clutching her hands at her sides in a panic. This was the first time she was prepared to leave the pack house without asking for his permission first. As soon as Adira had told her that Xavier was leaving, Kiara had prepared to go with him. Lance, her bodyguard, ran up behind her with her luggage to the car before the Alpha left. He watched the exchange between the two of them while putting her beg in the car not knowing if his Luna could go or not but he had done his duty.
“Will you take me with you?” Kiara asked, biting her lower lip causing Xavier’s heartbeat to skip. She wanted to accompany him on a trip, he had never imagined that. He observed that she had dressed in the approtate clothing, make-up, hairstyle, and trappings so that she could accompany him. When the Alpha did not respond, she had a self-conscious moment. Why would he allow her to accompany him? Just like Noah had warned, she would be imprisoned in a golden cage with no access to the outside world. She became aware of her embarrassment as she felt the younger Alpha, Beta, and Gamma’s gazes on her.
“Well, it appears that I am being foolish. I should go back,” Kiara scratched her nose with a little laugh as she gazed down at her feet, eager to go to avoid further humiliation. She had acted without
thinking.
“Please return soon from your business trip,” she said with a smile, before turning to leave.
“Oh my Goddess!!” The young woman shrieked when her body was abruptly lifted into the air and she found herself in her mate’s arms. What was he thinking all of a sudden? She turned around in panic, only to discover that everyone was still there watching them! Was the Alpha insane?
“Xavier,what are you doing?”
“Why are you returning to the pack house? Our car is here,” Xavier stated as he walked over to it. The young Luna blinked in confusion as he gently placed her in the passenger seat, as if she would break easily. Kiara stared at him as he locked her seat belt, his face was so close to her that she could see every little

feature of his handsome face.
“Are you really going to take me with you?” When her whisper reached his ears, Xavier turned his gaze to meet her chocolaty one.
“Yes, Kiara, we’re going together,” his fingers stroked her pink cheek before placing a sweet kiss on it. While shutting her eyes and relishing the warmth of her mate’s kiss, the young woman tightened her grasp on her heart. It must be a dream! He had really agreed!
“Let’s go,” he remarked as he drew away, closing the door for her. Kiara finally let out the breath she had been holding all along while pretending to act normal. The Alpha took the keys from the driver dismissing him since he was now going to drive. Xavier drove the car while studying her nervous expressions out of the corner of his eye, which she had hidden behind her calm mask.
Kiara took a deep breath as the car began to slow and then picked up pace as they exited the pack territory. It was her very first journey! This was her first trip with her mate!! The young she-wolf emotionally leaped, letting her partner know how inquisitive, excited, and frantic she was, nothing was hidden from him thanks to the mate bond. When Xavier noticed her enjoying the scenery and journey, he smiled and shook his head. She had certainly never left the Ardara Moon Pack!
“Do you know where we’re going?” He initiated the conversation since she appeared to want to talk but was unsure how to begin.
“No, but don’t worry, I won’t embarrass you. I’ll stay out of your meeting and no one will know you’re with me,” the young woman promised with a smile, but the Alpha raised his brows.
“Why would you embarrass me? And why would you avoid the meeting? We’re headed to the castle
of Vampire King Alfred. You are my Luna, you sit beside me all of the time. Do you get what I’m saying?” He questioned, surprising the young lady who was constantly told not to appear in front of visitors when she was in her old pack. But this man was escorting her to a meeting with the Vampire King?! Was it all a joke?
“What’s wrong?” He asked, his eyes moving between her and the road.
“Yes, I understand,” she said with a little nod, returning her gaze to the windows. Kiara’s lips curled
into a small grin as she realized her mate was not embarrassed of her, in fact he seemed to want to show
her off to the rest of the world.
After nearly two hours, the young Luna felt at ease in the car with the Alpha, as they chatted about things they had never done before. He informed her about their connection with the Vampire King, the attack, and other details that she attentively listened to, she also counseled him on a few points that he took note of. This woman’s wisdom could not possibly be challenged by her age.
“What do you have in your hand?” The Alpha inquired as the signal turned red and he rested his head on the seat. She’d been holding it since they left the pack house.
“This is the breakfast I had prepared for you. It’s nothing extraordinary because I just had a short amount of time to put it together,” she explained, showing him a few tasty sandwiches. The Alpha’s mouth watered at the sight of them, since he was hungry as a beast. How could this woman be so considerate?
How had she figured out that he hadn’t eaten?
“Hmm,why are we stopping?” Kiara questioned, observing him driving into a grassy field on the side of the highway and coming to a stop.
“Come on, let’s eat. I’m hungry,” Xavier told her as he got out of the car and opened the door for
her.
“Okay!” She exclaimed, as they sat under a nearby tree then began to eat their sandwiches. It appeared to her to be like a picnic! When the cold, invigorating breeze touched their skin, it was something else. The Alpha’s emerald eyes were on her hair and gorgeous face, which he had been enjoying throughout the journey more than anything else. Plus, the breeze reached him after stroking her smooth skin carrying her intoxicating rose and chocolate scent right to his nose. It was all a bit much for him. It was the first time he had not been alone on a trip, he was accompanied by a woman who just happened to
be his soulmate. Was this a dream?
Kiara looked at him with puzzled eyes as she noticed him staring at her since he had been neglecting to eat his food. The Alpha swallowed then glanced down at her hand.
“How come you’re giving me all of the food?” He had barely spotted one piece in her hand since she had placed everything on his plate.
“My hunger has vanished as a result of the excitement,” Kiara giggled shyly as she admitted. Suddenly, his big hand grabbed her little mouth, as he pushed a large bite into her mouth.
“Eat well, have some of mine too. Especially if you don’t want to drink blood in the Vampire’s coven,” the young woman’s huge chocolaty eyes widened in astonishment, as she began to eat properly. She had
no intention of drinking blood! That was terrible to hear!
When the Alpha and Luna laid down alongside each other after breakfast, the sky seemed more lovely than usual providing them peace of mind. The Alpha mentally thanked Tyler for not removing the sheets from the car when he went on a picnic with Lena.
“Are you on time for your appointment?” Kiara asked, turning her gaze to him. He moved in
closer.
“Not really, but you want to remain here for a while, don’t you?” He questioned. She smiled and
nodded.
“Then let’s hang around here for a bit. The drive is lengthy, and I despise staying in hotels,” he added,
bringing Kiara closer to his chest as they closed their eyes to rest until the Alpha’s phone vibrated in his
pocket.
“Hello,” the Alpha said tiredly, without looking at the name on the screen.
“Xavier, where are you my friend?”
“David?” Kiara looked up to see her husband’s surprised expression. Who was David? She shifted her weight away from his chest to rest on her elbow.
“It is indeed me. Where are all you boys, Xavier?” The man on the other end demanded angrily.
“Why? What’s wrong?”
“f**k! How could you possibly ask me that question? Did you forget about your best friend’s wedding?!?” Xavier lay there on the ground, surprised, checking the date on the screen and cursing himself.
“Who said that?” The Alpha responded boldly. Kiara spotted him trying to think of some excuse quickly. Wait! Is it possible that he forgot about his friend’s wedding? They sounded like old pals.
“Does that mean that you remembered today?” David asked suspiciously.
“Of course, I do,” Xavier lied as he motioned for Kiara to get up and head back to the car.
“Then why can’t I see you here with me, my friend?” Knowing that his bastard friend had neglected his wedding, his annoyed friend taunted him. He had already called Zander, Kaiden, and Tyler, but none of them had answered due to all of the work they were doing.
“Because I am on the way. I will be there in a hour or two,” Xavier replied. “Really? I am waiting, come quickly,” Xavire cut the phone with a deep sigh.
“Is everything all right?” Kiara inquired.
“Yes, it appears I need to attend a friend’s wedding before our meeting. David contacted me hundreds of times, but I had forgotten each time. If I don’t join his wedding celebration, he might take a bite out of my ass as a punishment and an act of vengeance,” he explained. Kiara simply nodded.
“So what is next?” She asked.
“We are going to his wedding,” he responded by opening the trunk.
“We?” The young woman gave him a confused look.
“Yes, we. He knows about you, therefore he invited us as a couple,” he clarified as he rummaged through his bags.
“But I didn’t bring anything appropriate to wear to a wedding,” Kiara said as she showed him her small bag, he immediately agreed and zipped his bag. His clothes were also not suitable for a
wedding.
“Then let’s do some shopping,” he shut the trunk and drove to a nearby mall. These purchases seemed excessive for a wedding that would last only a few hours. Kiara couldn’t even object since she didn’t want to humiliate him in front of his friends. She took a deep breath as she walked into one of the stores. This unplanned shopping trip had come as a surprise. Lena and Jennifer had accompanied her the last time, but this time the Alpha had been strolling behind her closely observing as she walked by all pricey clothes without a glance.
The young woman was unsure what to choose because everything was lovely. Xavier had easily picked an outfit for himself, but she had a difficult time doing so. The Alpha licked his lips and took a gown from the rack next to him as he watched his woman’s round ass. He knew what dress he wanted to see her
in.
“How about this one?” Kiara turned her gaze to her husband, who had chosen the most sexy and revealing black floor length stunning gown for her.
“You want me to wear this one?” Her mouth was open a little in surprise. “Yes,” he replied, leading her over to the changing room.
