Chapter 49

Gwendolyn stood in front of her locker, stuffing her belongings inside. A group of pretty girls approached with clear ill intent.

Turning to face them, Gwendolyn asked coolly, “Can I help you with something?”

“Oh, you brought a lunch box? Let’s see what gourmet delights you’ve got there,” one of the girls, Polly Smith, snatched the box from Gwendolyn’s hands and clumsily dropped it on the

floor.

“Oops, my bad. I just couldn’t hold it right.” Polly said with a malicious grin.

Gwendolyn’s lips pressed tightly together as she watched the meal that Marina had carefully prepared get ruined, anger welling up inside her.

“Getting mad, huh? Country bumpkins are always so sensitive,” Polly said with a mocking sweetness, fanning the air with her hand and asking. “Do you guys smell that? It’s like fox stench.”

“It’s pungent.”

“Gwendolyn, it’s coming from you, isn’t it? Let’s help you out.”

They laughed as they grabbed a bottle of hand sanitizer and started spraying Gwendolyn, mocking her all the while.
