Betrayed by My Beta Mate Chapter 39

39 Rogue Plus Two

Unknown POV

I wrap my arms around my mother and daughter as the warriors drag us to the cells. I wish we had never rested near this f**king pack. We had been running for the last few hours and I knew Penny would need to rest. I cannot let those ba**ards find us. I refuse to be his personal breeder. I still don’t understand why he wants me so desperately when many of the other rogue she-wolves would be willing to do his bidding. There is no way he could ever know about my gift because I have never told anyone what I can do. My mother is the only one who knows about my abilities and she would never tell anyone. Once we walk down stairs, Penny starts to cry and I pick her up, holding her close to my chest. “Mama it’s dark in here” she says in her tiny voice. She is just about three years old and she is the sweetest little girl. I hate that she is mixed up in all of this and I will die before I let these wolves hurt my pup. The warrior opens the door to the cell and ushers us inside. Thankfully, he isn’t cruel to us and when he locks the cell, he says nothing. I notice we are not alone down here. The cell next to us has a few wolves who definitely smell of pack. One looks severely injured and the others look worried.

to explain the real reason we ran. A few minutes later, we hear the door lock and we are all alone with no guards. “Are you alright” one of the men ask in our direction. He is young and his question seems of genuine concern. “Don’t you answer them.” “They don’t care about us, you know how pack wolves feel about rogues”, my mother whispers. “Mom, we are in no position to be judging these pack wolves.” “Maybe if we help their friend, they will help us.” She looks past me

it always does. I stand and walk toward the cell, stopping a few feet from where the man who spoke, is standing. “We are alright. besides being locked in here but your friend looks like he isn’t.” “What’s your name” I ask him. “Jacob ma’am and these men are my fellow warriors and friends.” “Jacob I can help your friend.” He looks at me with confusion written all over his face. “Maureen please” my mother pleads with me not too but I can’t just watch this man die if I can help him. “Can you bring him closer to me.” The men pick him up and lay him down so I can reach through the bars. I look back to ensure there is no guards to see what I’m about to do and there isn’t. I reach my hand through the bars, placing it over

cot with my mother. I know she is upset with me for showing these men what I’m capable of, but she will get over being mad. A few minutes later, I hear the door open and three men walk down the stairs.

Walker POV

was able to stop Atlas from doing this to him. I am not old by any means, but Jacob is only nineteen. I have had thirty-five years of this life and if that’s all the goddess sees fit to give me, then so be it. “Stop talking like that and fight to stay alive” Rowan says. “It is not

warm and my connection to Rowan feels strong again. “Rowan, what’s happening?” “I believe the goddess has sent someone to save us.” If I could I would roll my eyes at him. The goddess has bigger things to worry about than saving us. I’m finally able to flutter my eyes open and the men help me to the cot. I look in the cell next to ours and at that moment, I know this woman is the reason I’m alive right now. I smile and thank her for saving my life. A few seconds later, three of our fellow warriors come to stand in front of the cell. There is silence before he takes the keys from his pocket, unlocking the cell door. Jacob and the others step in front of me and I love that they are so loyal as to defend me even after everything that has happened. The warriors step aside and I think we are all confused. Tristian looks at me with sympathy in his eyes. “Walker, take these men and leave before we are given orders.” “No warrior will stop you.” I make it to my
