Jim remained silent, only gesturing towards the door as he told Noah and Kyla, “I have to go in and see to the patient. Wait here, please.”

“Why should I stay out? Sadie is my wife,” Noah retorted, puzzled.

This was not the first time Jim had come to his house to attend to Sadie, and Jim hadn’t asked him to leave them alone before.
