Sadie had seen this day coming. Everyone knew Micah had taken the fall for her. Even if his grandfather dropped the poisoning issue, he'd never let her stay by his side. Maybe leaving was for the better. Less contact, less conflict.

She sighed deeply and picked up her pace, heading home. That's when her phone buzzed again. It was Kathleen.
