Chapter 899

A flicker of panic flashed in Violet's violet eyes as she shook her head. "I don't know."

"Then how did you and Marguerite meet? Did I know her before?" Silas asked, his voice steady but probing.

Violet bit her lower lip, her breath catching as she studied him, searching for answers in his expression. But his face was unreadable, giving nothing away.

"Silas, what does Marguerite have to do with you? Why are you suddenly asking about her?"

Silas's gaze drifted out the window, unfocused. What did Marguerite have to do with him, really? Why was he suddenly so fixated on her? Was it the headaches that struck every time he saw her? Or was it the strange familiarity he felt toward everyone in her orbit?

Maybe it was both.

He lowered his eyes, his deep gaze softening with a mix of carelessness and something almost tender. "I'm not sure. Just wanted to ask."

Violet was quiet for a long moment before finally replying, her face pale. "I don't know if you two met before-you never told me. As for how I met Marguerite, it was after I helped her mother. When Thunderbolt Enterprises went under, I started working as her assistant."
