All the while in the car, I couldn't let my gaze drift from my pup. She had grown into such a beautiful baby that my heart felt like it was both breaking and healing at the same time. After eight long years, I couldn't believe she was finally in my arms. The happiness I felt was something I thought I'd never feel again. But at the same time, there was this pain in my chest for missing so much. Those years without her, without seeing her grow, without holding her, made the joy feel bittersweet.
