Chapter 233

Summer POV

Laura called me in her room at the hospital before the announcement of results. Despite the tension in the room, I wanted to laugh, seeing her swollen red face. Her lips were also swollen, so the words that came out sounded alien.

“HooocoudualloweeeBaaadnest?”

“Huh?” I really stifled my laugh here.

She narrowed her already swollen eyes at me, glaring hard. “Ivillkillyouuu!”

I looked away, calmed myself and then turned my face back to her. “If you’re asking about Nesting Trials, then I have no idea why Bradley behaved like that. It was just very sudden and out of the blue.”

What she next said meant that it was extremely important that I didn’t get out of the Luna trials. Her father had called her and he was sounding harsher than before.

“I’m trying my best,” I replied exasperatedly, irritated and scared by Morelli’s constant interference. “If they disqualify me, I’ll appeal to the judges.”

Laura glared at me with total hatred. She said that if I was thrown out in this round, she would make sure that Morelli killed me and buried me six feet underground. A chill of fear ran down my spine. I was so trapped in her world. It only made me want to escape from here as soon as possible.

“I’m trying, Laura,” I said.

“Get out!” she sneered.

I didn’t want to stay in the same room because I was feeling suffocated, so I got up and hurried out in the open air. Once I was out, I sat on a bench and inhaled deep to fill my lungs with much–needed oxygen. I hated Laura, but I hated Morelli more.

At 9pm, we were all called into the conference room of the resort for the results. I wore simple jeans and a shirt as I walked into the room. It was teeming with activity with some contestants laughing while some making jokes with the Alphas. As soon as they became aware of me, the murmurs decreased. I noticed a group including Daisy, looking at me smugly. Daisy chuckled and whispered something to her friend. She laughed, but all others who hadn’t listened to her also laughed. It wasn’t strange that they laughed at my state, but it was strange that they laughed when they hadn’t even heard the joke she made. Lowering my head, I made my way to the side where I picked up a glass of pineapple juice.

“I hope they don’t disqualify you,” Damon’s voice interrupted my thoughts.

I didn’t reply to him and continued to look at the podium where I saw Tamara speaking with judge Cody. Where was Alpha Bradley? I wanted to give him a piece of my mind. I scanned the room where everyone resumed laughing and joking.

“If you want, I can make an appeal to the judge,” Damon continued.

“No thanks,” I gritted. I hated his creepy ways.
