The shock was so much that I couldn’t move a muscle when I saw a huge brown wolf lunging at me. I had seen wolves in my life, but this one looked evil. With his lips peeled back, his fangs drawn out, and his claws extended, he aimed at me. And at that moment, I thought I was going to die. I also wished one more thing–to be a werewolf.

The screams around me faded as I watched it, frozen to my spot, petrified. Somewhere behind me a blood–curdling snarl emanated. “Damonnn!”

I whipped my head to see what it was, and it all happened in a blur of a moment. My hair flew and right in front of my eyes, I saw Bradley transforming into a massive black wolf, taller than six feet. He opened his jaw wide and my heart skipped a beat. His maw was big enough to crush a skull in one go. The transformation was shocking for me. I had never seen anyone turning into a wolf. It was a chapter right out of a fantasy book. I should have backed away, run for my dear life for the fear of being sandwiched between two feral wolves. But here I was appreciating the beauty of Brad’s wolf. I guess, I had no survival instinct left within me. Or was it that I was numb? Maybe dead already?

Bradley’s wolf growled, rushing toward me. I screamed, ducking, thinking that he was also attacking me, but what happened next was surprising. Before the attacker could pin me, Bradley’s wolf barreled into him. And a massive fight ensued.

The fight between Bradley’s wolf and Damon’s wolf was fierce, a blur of fur, teeth, and claws. Damon, snarled, snapping his jaws at Bradley. Bradley’s wolf was aggressive. He growled and leaped, locking jaws with Damon. The two wolves tumbled across the ground, each fighting for dominance.

Bradley’s wolf landed a savage blow to Damon’s side, causing him to howl in pain. Damon retaliated, slashing at Bradley’s wolf with sharp claws, drawing blood. The air was filled with the sound of growls and snarls as the two wolves struggled against each other. Bradley’s wolf was relentless, his grow!

With a final, forceful lunge, Bradley’s wolf sank his teeth into Damon’s neck, squeezing until Damon’s body went limp. The forest fell silent, except for Bradley’s deep, ragged breaths. Damon was dead. He dropped Damon to the ground, and looked at me. While I was shaken, I was unharmed.

His eyes darkened as he turned toward the pack who all dropped on their knees and inclined their heads in submission. Brad was filled with a primal need to protect what was his, and I, in that moment realized I was undeniably his.

He picked up Damon’s dead wolf, and dragged it to me. He dropped it at my feet like some kind of offering, and then stood tall. On instinct, reached out for Brad’s wolf. He brought his face down to my hand and snuggled it softly. Gods above. The big, bad, ferocious wolf, who just killed another, was so soft

to me.

I murmured. “Thank you…” No one had ever protected
