Chapter 35

Certainly.

There was a time when Serena would have done anything to have Aaron in her bedroom, to feel his touch.

She went to great lengths to catch his attention.

She wore alluring dresses, perfected her makeup to be mesmerizing, and even adopted a flirtatious way of speaking.

But every single time, Aaron would push her away without a second thought. During those days, Serena's self-confidence was shattered.

She drifted through life in a daze, forcing a smile whenever she was around Aaron.

Sensing something was off, Aaron wanted to say something, but Serena's bitter voice stopped him: "Yes, I was desperate before. But now I've woken up. I don't want to keep making a fool of myself. Is that so wrong?"

When Aaron met her tear-filled eyes, a sharp pang hit his chest: "I didn't mean..."

His brow furrowed suddenly.

His hand pressed against his abdomen.

The stabbing pain in his stomach turned his usually composed face a ghostly white.

His stomach condition was acting up again.

Serena saw it immediately.
