Chapter 138

At the Flynn residence, Yvette’s feelings of unease over the past few days were finally confirmed. She clutched the hairpin in her hand–a pair of tortoiseshell clips she had just found under Howard’s pillow.

“These aren’t mine. So whose are they? First, there were pictures of a girl, and now a hairpin.‘ Yvette’s eyes were red, tears filling them as she finally lost control of her emotions. “Whose are these, Howard?”

Howard lowered his gaze, refusing to respond. Although he couldn’t speak much right now, it was clear he was avoiding any interaction.

Yvette let out a bitter laugh, on the verge of a breakdown.

“Oh right, I forgot that you can’t talk yet. Fine, I’ll ask questions and you just nod or shake your head, okay?” Her tone shifted as she continued, “Tell me, do you have feelings for another woman?”

Howard stayed the same, eyes downcast, not looking at her or responding.

Yvette was completely enraged. She suddenly reached out, cupping Howard’s face, forcing him to look at her. “Answer me. Yes or no? Is it that hard?”

Howard’s eyebrows furrowed deeply, his lips pressed tightly together, with a look in his eyes she couldn’t quite read.

At that moment, Yvette was almost convinced he had someone else. ‘But when did this happen? He’s been in a coma for so many years, and it couldn’t have been then. So, it must have been a few years ago.

Yvette stiffened, her back tensing. She gritted her teeth, eyes blazing with fury. “Have you been fair to me? Huh? When you were with her, did you ever consider me, Howard?”

Howard lowered his gaze, his breathing unintentionally quickening.

“Who is she?” Yvette cried out, grabbing his collar. “I’m asking you. Don’t act like you don’t know. Tell me. If you could send Hervey to find her, how can you not even say her name?”

“Oh no!” Miranda, who had been outside the door, couldn’t hold back any longer. She rushed in, pulling Yvette away. “Yvette, calm down. Howard is still a patient.”

Yvette sobbed, pointing accusingly at Howard. “Don’t you want to ask him what he’s done to me?”
