Because of that, Joyce was plagued with guilt and self-blame for what she did.

Mom and Dad are old now, and they aren't exactly in great health either. I don't know what they would do if anything were to happen to them because of this... I really regret taking things for granted and acting on a whim... I was so naive to think that my death would be enough to atone for my parents' mistake, and that Stanley would be able to let go of his hatred toward them! I thought my parents would live happily once they were freed from their guilt, but I ended up neglecting what they truly wanted.
