Damon let out a chuckle as I tightened my arms around him for like the hundredth time.

“I’m not going to disappear, Clara” He murmured as he placed a soft kiss on my forehead.

“Well I won’t be seeing you for a week so pardon me for wanting to get into your skin” I murmured and he chuckled lightly but said nothing else. “We are here” Luca announced some minutes later and my arms reflexively tightened around Damon.

“It’s okay baby, I’ll stay a little while before leaving. Okay?” He uttered softly as he caressed my face and I let out a sigh before nodding.

We have been on the road for hours now and although I didn’t want the trip to end because I knew that meant Damon would soon leave, I was glad because I wanted to stretch my leg a little.

We climbed out of the car and my eyes widened when I saw where I would be staying for the next one week. I had expected it to be a small hut because of how Discreet Damon and Luca were being but it was just a big mansion but with the amount of guards roaming around, it was heavily guarded.

“Isn’t this mansion a little too big?” I questioned as we walked through the gates.

“I want you to be comfortable, Clara. Besides it doesn’t matter because no one will ever be able to get you here. This territory belongs to a very close acquaintance of mine. He owes me so he was more than willing to let you stay here. Several years ago, he had the most powerful witch place a cloaking spell over this territory so it’s completely invisible to the outside world. You will be safe here” He explained and my eyes widened before I turned to him and grabbed his hand.

“Then why don’t you just hide out here with me? We can stay here till they give up and stop searching for you. Delilah, your parents, everyone can come here right?” I questioned as I stared into his eyes with hope in mine but he just smiled slightly then placed his palm on my face.

“If it were in the past I would have totally agreed to stay here with you because I was selfish and only cared about myself but you have made me a better person and what are our children going to think when they hear their father abandoned his people when they needed him the most?” He questioned and I pouted.
