Chapter 3 Cage made of gold

“Nice to meet you, Mrs Sullivan.” I said, trying to remain indifferent.

“Come in, take a seat. Lunch is nearly ready. Till then we can have a little chat.”

I nodded. She led me to a spacious and beautiful living room, and she motioned to me to sit down.

She sat opposite me, and soon a young girl in uniform came in to serve tea.

“The first thing we are going to do is I’m going to take you to the surgery after lunch. I am sorry you have to go through this procedure, but this is a rule for our family. Other than that, I thought that would make you happy to take part in the organisation of the last few things of the wedding.”

I looked at her, and I only hoped that I could hide my emotions. What could I say to that? I always imagined that at my wedding every single thing was going to be chosen by me and my fiance. How could I be happy with that? I swallowed.

“Thank you Mrs. Sullivan, you are very kind.”

“I know, darling. You are a bit confused, and maybe you feel uncomfortable, but I think you’ll be fine. You are a beautiful young girl. I’m sure Gideon will find the time spent with you pleasurable.”

I nodded again. So his name was Gideon.

“Your wedding is scheduled for the weekend. So we have four days. I’ll take you to try your wedding dress on. It is mesmerising, I can tell, and now that I saw you in person, I’m sure you’ll be in the headlines of the news after the wedding. You’ll look amazing with Gideon.”

“Thank you.”

I said, but I was shouting inside. She discussed this situation like the most natural thing on Earth. I was sure she wanted to brag about this wedding. Probably she had those rich friends who took these kinds of things like a competition.
