Regret Novel 150

Charlotte ignored Evander’s burning gaze and walked straight to Winston. “Mr. Rivers, I’ve never been one to prove my abilities with words. Whether you believe in me or not is your choice. But if you choose to trust me, I won’t let you down.”

Winston faltered for a moment, perhaps realizing how he’d behaved earlier. Lowering his head in front of everyone, he murmured, “Miss Sterling, I apologize for doubting you before.” When he looked up again, his expression was grave. “You really are everything Dr. Chase said–a brilliant physician. No, I dare say, a born prodigy.”

“You’re too kind.”

Winston exchanged a few words with Tricia, then stayed by his wife’s side as she was wheeled to her room.

Inside the surgical department, praise for Charlotte was everywhere, drowning out the earlier rumors and negativity about her as if they had never existed.

Tricia watched as Evander’s eyes stayed fixed on Charlotte, who was now surrounded by colleagues. Her hand clenched involuntarily.

If the surgery had failed, everyone’s job would have been on the line. Thankfully, it all went well and nothing disastrous happened.”

Charlotte looked at her with cold indifference, saying nothing.
