Chapter 263

“Evander!”

Charlotte grabbed his jacket, her whole body trembling. “You promised me. You said you wouldn’t do this!”

He looked down at her, voice low but unyielding. “Charlotte. I said I wouldn’t interfere as long as you listened to me.”

Her breath caught, color draining from her face.

Gently, Evander brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. “I can forgive anything you do to me. But if you choose another man, I won’t allow it.”

He started to walk away.

Desperate, Charlotte reached after him. “Evander, I have to go to the hospital tomorrow. You can’t treat me like this-”

He shook her hand off, coldly. “Take a sick day, quit your job if you must. I’ll give you an excuse.”

Charlotte stared at him in disbelief, frozen.

No sooner had Evander left than, Natalie slipped into the room.

Charlotte’s clothes were gone-every last item, even her phone had been

taken.

When the door shut and darkness swallowed the room, Charlotte didn’t cry or shout. She just slowly slid back against the headboard, her face blank as she watched the city lights glitter through the window.
