After Rosemary and Jacques arrived in Riverspire City, they checked into the International Hotel. The reason for Rosemary’s visit was, of course, the ongoing negotiations about the nanomedicine project.

When Charlotte and Evander arrived, they found Rosemary in the hotel’s expansive dining hall, deep in conversation with Professor Aldridge’s team. Rosemary wasn’t fluent in foreign languages, but luckily, she had her diplomat son to interpret, which made it easy for her to keep up with Professor Aldridge’s discussions.

As someone beside Rosemary murmured something, she turned toward the two newcomers, her eyes crinkling in a gentle smile. “Lottie, Evander, you’re here.”

“Grandma, Dad…” Charlotte greeted them politely, her tone still marked by the old formality.

Until Evander signed the papers, she was still a daughter–in–law of the Howard family.

Jacques nodded. “How have you been settling in here in Riverspire?”

Charlotte replied softly, “It’s been fine.”

“Lottie, I’m sure you’ve already met Professor Aldridge?” Rosemary reached out and took her hand warmly.

Charlotte smiled. “Yes, we’ve met.”

Professor Aldridge chimed in as well, “She made quite an impression on me. I only found out later that she was Old Mr. Carstairs‘ student–l must say, I’m rather embarrassed I didn’t realize sooner.”

After a bit of small talk, everyone made their way to the table.

Suddenly, Rosemary changed the subject and inquired about one of Professor Aldridge’s students.

Charlotte glanced up, meeting his gaze.
