He felt so lucky to have taken the day off to be with them. Work had been grueling lately, with an endless stream of tasks and projects piling up, often thanks to Isabella's constant demands. He figured she wasn't thrilled about him being absent today, but he chalked it up to nerves-this was probably the first time she'd managed things without him.

But as he watched his wife and daughter laughing and exploring together, none of that mattered. This was exactly where he wanted to be.
