Betty had no choice. So she let Peter push her in. 

At the sight of Betty, Emily’s tears dried up and her eyes swelled with jealousy. 

Jeffrey looked at his fiancée and quickly said, “Emily, you may go out and wait for a while.” 

Emily was reluctant to do so. But he insisted. So she could do nothing but obey his request. Before leaving the ward, she gave Betty a ferocious stare.
