Chapter Two Hundred and Twenty Four

KADIA’S POV

Alexander walked in with Daemon, and I had to push aside the fact that he was in our room, invading our personal space. Daemon made himself comfortable on our bed.

I’d never seen two people who looked so alike and yet so different. I remembered how the Demon Overlord had stood there, imposing, wings sprouting from his back–something I’d never seen before. They shared the same piercing blue eyes. Looking at Daemon felt like looking at a darker version of Alexander. Both were dangerous and powerful, but while Alexander had been born a leader, Daemon had made himself one. There was a glint of madness in Daemon’s eyes, reminding me to stay alert whenever he was near.

As if sensing my gaze, Daemon turned to me and threw a wink–clearly aimed at irritating Alexander. “How did it go?” I asked Alexander.

“He picked up quite a lot,” Daemon replied, then turned to his half–brother. “You should try getting into her mind,” he suggested.

“No,” Alexander growled.

“I don’t mind,” I added.

“If I make even the smallest slip…”

I walked over to him, taking his hands in mine. “Something tells me Cynthia will be here soon. It’s better you than her,” I assured him. He paused for a long moment before nodding, his gaze still locked on mine and then something shifted.

“Does anyone else feel hot in here?” I asked. Suddenly, my clothes felt uncomfortable, and I began to pull them off. Alexander stopped me midway, and I snapped back into my senses. He lifted the strap of my gown, putting it back in place.

“I… did you do that?” I asked, incredulous. At that moment, I had felt it–my own thoughts telling me to undress, but of course, that wasn’t really me.

“That hadn’t been what I had in mind,” he admitted.

“But you got to her on your first try. Something I and many others couldn’t achieve, even after years of practice. If I didn’t know better, I’d think you’ve been aware of your abilities all this time. Do I know better?” he questioned. I saw something in Daemon’s eyes–surprise and a bit of envy, which he wasn’t even trying to hide.

“Do you think I’ll let Cynthia get to her if I knew I had this ability?”

“Fair point. Now that you’ve mastered the act, we should proceed to the next phase.”

“Mastered? I barely know how to use it, and I didn’t exactly get it right. My intention wasn’t for her to strip in front of you.”

Daemon smirked. “Would’ve been more interesting if you hadn’t stopped it though.”

“Pervert,” I muttered, and Daemon only shrugged.

“No one expects the demon to be the good guy,” he said. “I do need to feed.”
