Chapter 184 Caden and Tessa Hug Each Other

Caden’s POV:

Inside the room.

I gave Heidi a ride back home.

As I stepped into her room, I noticed that her house belonged to a poor rural family. The walls were bare, and everything looked worn–out and simple.

Feeling a bit surprised, I asked, “Tessa, is this where you live?”

She nodded. “Yes, this is my birth parents‘ home. I usually rent a place in the city since traveling back and forth to the bar at night would be too inconvenient. But whenever I have free time, I come back.” She lowered her head slightly, biting her lip. “Once Grandma’s health improves, I plan to move my whole family to the city.”

I nodded in understanding. “Where is everyone right now?”

“My parents are at the hospital with Grandma. They probably won’t be back until later,” she replied softly.

“In that case, get some rest. I should be going now.” As I got up to leave, my thoughts drifted to Rosaline and the engagement ceremony that was happening later that evening.

“Caden, I feel so much pain here.” Just as I was about to step out, Heidi suddenly placed her hand on her chest and leaned toward me..

“Tessa, what’s wrong?” I quickly reached out to support her.

She rested against me, lifting herself slightly on her toes. Her lips hovered close to my ear as she whispered in a sweet, soft voice, “Caden, do you remember? Didn’t you once promise to marry me?”

Her words froze me in place.

Rosaline’s POV:

When I pushed open the door, the first thing I saw was a young woman with messy clothes tightly embracing Caden.

Their posture was close–too close. Their interaction was unmistakably intimate.

And then, I heard her say to him, “Didn’t you once promise to marry me?”
