Chapter 186 The Engagement Ceremony Is Canceled

Rosaline’s POV:

Finished

I exited the taxi, my expression icy, and stepped onto the red carpet, heading directly for the stage at the center of the ballroom.

Yet, my legs felt unnaturally heavy, as though weighed down by iron, making every movement slow and exhausting.

“Rosie, why are you by yourself? Where is Caden? Didn’t he come with you?” Mr. Richard approached me, worry evident in his voice.

I halted, my face devoid of emotion, and stated flatly, “He’s not coming.”

“What?” His eyes widened in shock.

“Rosie, what do you mean? Why isn’t Caden here? Did something happen?”

He bombarded me with one question after another, but I simply brushed past him, unwavering, and proceeded ahead.

The guests quickly sensed that something was off and began murmuring amongst themselves.

“What’s happening?”

“Why is the bride the only one here? Where’s Mr. Holbrook?”

“Could it be that Mr. Holbrook backed out at the last minute?”

Under the weight of their astonished stares, I ascended the steps, making my way onto the stage.

The host was in the midst of preparations, and upon spotting me, he rushed over. “Ms. Sinclair, the ceremony hasn’t begun yet. You can rest for a moment.”

Ignoring his words, I took the microphone straight from his hand.

With Mr. Richard and the others looking at me in confusion, I steadied my breath, cleared my throat, and declared with certainty, “Tonight’s engagement is officially canceled.”

The instant those words left my lips, shock rippled across every face in the room.
