Following the direction of my finger, everyone saw the fresh claw marks on the trunks of a few large trees not far away.

“Those marks? They look like Rosaline’s!” Yura’s voice was unusually excited as she rushed toward the tree.

Shaken, I quickly took off, running with long strides.

Yura touched the marks excitedly and said, “These marks are fresh. They must be the distress signal Rosaline left for us before the avalanche!”

A wave of hope and joy rose within me. I spoke in a low, firm voice, “Since Rosaline left us a distress signal, she must be nearby. Let’s search around!”
