Chapter 249 End up Here Again

Caden carried me straight into the car.

I was drenched from head to toe, my white dress clinging to me, outlining every curve.

“Rosaline, are you okay?” Caden swallowed, his Adam’s apple bobbing slightly. Then he took off his jacket and wrapped it around me.

“I’m fine. What are you doing here?” I asked.

“Just passing by,” he replied casually, his deep, velvety voice carrying a hint of amusement as his lips curved slightly.

Passing by? Yeah, right.

I narrowed my eyes, feeling a twinge of suspicion.

Why was Caden suddenly at Jasper’s house? Shouldn’t he be at the hospital with Mr. Richard?

I glanced at him sideways but didn’t press further.

Forget it. None of this mattered anymore.

After everything that had happened tonight, I was exhausted. Closing my eyes, I decided to rest for a bit.

Caden started the car.

Caden’s POV:

Half an hour later, we arrived in New Moon City.

I glanced at Rosaline.

Her eyes were closed, her breathing steady, as if she’d fallen asleep.

The soft glow of the streetlights illuminated her face. Strands of damp hair clung to her forehead.

The sight stirred something deep inside me. Unable to resist, I reached out and gently brushed her hair back.

Her eyelashes fluttered, and she opened her eyes, staring at my hand.
