The stage manager saw me standing there, lost in thought, and walked over to get my attention, “Your next scene is the dance sequence. You’ll be performing mid–air with flower petals by using the wire rig. You mentioned wanting to personally check the props–everything’s ready now. Would you like me to take your over?”

I snapped out of my thoughts, quickly gathered myself and smiled. “Sure.”

Last time, Rosaline’s props malfunctioned out of nowhere, and the accident nearly ruined her face. If it weren’t for sheer luck, she might have been disfigured. The incident left me shaken, and ever since then, I’ve been extra cautious with my own props.

For an actress, her face is everything–it’s her lifeline. Losing it would be no different from losing everything.

Following the stage manager to the wire rig area, I saw a few crew members still busy fine–tuning the equipment. When they noticed me, they put down their work to greet me.

“Ms. Conti, don’t worry! We’ve tested this rig at least a dozen times. There won’t be any issues. You can rest assured when you get on!” One of the crew members patted his chest confidently, guaranteeing its safety.

Still uneasy, I signaled for Megan to double–check everything.
