Chapter 355 Touch His Dingdingdong

Hughie’s POV:

Had I known the extent of Caden’s deceit–how far he would go to manipulate Rosaline into marrying him–I would’ve left him to his fate when Yale first begged me for help.

It had been a grim day when Caden and Rosaline were returned by Yale and his werewolf rescue team. Caden was barely alive, and Rosaline was unconscious, le, frantic, had begged me to save them.

I hadn’t wanted to get involved. But then Yale spoke of their bond–how Caden had fallen off that cliff to save Rosaline. Honor, loyalty, and duty demanded I act It would have been wrong not to.

So, despite every instinct to turn away, I agreed. I couldn’t let my student’s lover die. Not when news of his funeral could be the first thing she woke up to.

For three days, I worked without rest, mending the shattered bones in Caden’s body. His leg, once doomed to cripple him, I saved as well.

Worried he wouldn’t survive the pain. I took a risk. I used the witch’s stone and Chantcraft to hasten his healing.

What would have taken months to recover was done in days.

And for all my effort? Caden recovered, only to fake his injury, tricking Rosaline.

“Dr. Watts,” Caden’s voice was low, intense. “I had no choice. Rosaline won’t understand… If I didn’t do this. we’d never be together.”

He lay there, eyes locked on me. “She loves me, Dr. Warts. You can see it, right?”

I nodded, quietly.

I believed him. He would treat Rosaline right. But still, the deception gnawed at me.

He saw my hesitation and pressed on. “Dr. Watts, trust me, I love Rosaline. I’ll make her the happiest werewolf on the continent. You want that too, don’t you?”

I sighed, a heavy exhale. “Fine. This is between the two of you. I’ve done what I can. Now that you’re both fine, I’ll take my leave.
