Every staff member who passed shot me looks of contempt. I ignored them, focusing on my phone as I completed the pack separation rituals.

The Sterling Pack held a feast to celebrate Rose’s “adoption.” I claimed weakness from my injuries to hide in my chambers upstairs, but the Elder Council’s mocking whispers still crept through the door.
