Chapter 27
Just as they were about to speak, Arnold’s phone rang.
It was Landa calling
Arnold walked past them toward the elevator and answered the phone. “I’m getting off work now, I’ll be there soon…”
Cody swallowed what he was about to say.
Howe could Alpha Arnold not know about the divorce when he already had a new lover?
He probably forgot about it for a while.
After all, he’d never cared about anything to do with Sarah.
Meanwhile, Sarah, sitting in the cab, reported another address to the driver. The vehicle smoothly turned around and headed in the new direction
past moments earlier, Sarah’s uncle had called, inviting her to join him for dinner at her grandmother’s house.
It had been a while since she’d last seen them, and the timing felt right.
Traffic was heavy, and it was well past eight o’clock when Sarah finally arrived.
As she stepped into the house, her grandmother greeted her warmly.
“Sarah, long time no see.” Her grandmother’s rough palms gently caressed Sarah’s face as she added with concern, “You’ve lost Weight–Has something been bothering you lately?”
Sarah held her grandmother’s hand, her lips curving into a soft smile. “I’m fine. It’s just that I’ve been busy with work lately because I have a new goal.”
Her grandmother’s furrowed brow softened, though a trace of worry remained. Yet, when she looked into Sarah’s sparkling eyes, a flicker of surprise crossed her features.
This radiant, determined Sarah was someone she hadn’t seen in a long time–not since her marriage.
Though she’d lost some weight, Sarah appeared more energized, no longer bearing the constant weariness that had dulled her
spirit for years.
“Eat well, even if you’re busy,” her grandmother gently reminded her, visibly relieved. Then she glanced behind Sarah and asked, “Why isn’t Alex here?”
