Athough Arnold was often cold to Sarah, he was not a rude or impolite man; on the contrary, he was courteous and patient with elders and people he respected.

Listening to the conversation just now, it was clear he had done Clark a favor.

Sarah tugged the corners of her mouth into a bitter smile as she recalled Arnold’s unceremonious refusal when she had begged him to help her uncle
