Zoey’s brow furrowed as she noticed the scorn and contempt in the eyes of the other Haskins family members as Duke flirted with her. Duke had achieved his goal; he wanted everyone to brand Zoey as a loose woman. Pressing her lips together, Zoey chose not to argue. In this setting, anything she said would be twisted against her. It was better to wait for Fitch to come out. Mia glared at Zoey’s face, itching to slap her again, but remembering Fitch’s recent demeanor, she reluctantly stood down. She thought to herself: Just wait until my brother wakes up, we’ll see if he continues to side with this woman. Then Zoey will get what she deserves.. The real money-makers are the ruthless ones. But Arlen was the type who would feed stray cats by the roadside, which doesn’t fit the profile of such a person. Arlen ruffled his hair. Upon reaching the hospital’s ground floor, he hopped into a nearby convertible. “Enough talk, Mr. Elston. Get in the car,” Arlen said.
